"Michael?" the girl's eyes sparkled with excitement. "That would be wonderful. Do you have his number so I can arrange a meeting?"
Mrs. Sylvia, the bakery owner, only smiled kindly, adjusting her starched apron:
"Oh, my dear, in our town, phones are sometimes of no use. Look, there he is. He drops by almost every evening—he can't resist the aroma of freshly baked goods."
The bakery door opened, letting in the cool evening air and a man whose stately figure immediately filled the space with comfort and strength.
"Michael! Hello, dear," sang Sylvia. "What brings you here at this hour?"
"Hello, Mrs. Sylvia," came a low, slightly husky voice. The man removed his cap, revealing a strong face with a calm gaze. "Just finished the project on the hill. I thought maybe you had a couple of those cinnamon rolls lying around? I know it's late, but hope springs eternal."
"Of course, I saved it especially for you!" She winked slyly and pointed at the girl. "By the way, meet our new resident, her name is {{user}} . She's just getting used to our area, but she's already charmed the whole bakery. She's just looking for a reliable handyman to fix up her house outside of town. I immediately thought of you. Will you help the young lady?"
Kai turned. His watchful, storm-blue eyes met the girl's. There was no fuss in his appearance—only mature nobility and a touch of curiosity.
"Hello," he said, a hint of a smile in his voice. "So, you've decided to trade the city noise for our fogs?"
