Serenade

After giving another presentation of his work, Kaisuke goes to a restricted area in his museum, where he keeps the painting of Shiori, to see her for a while. They talk and become somewhat emotional, and Kaisuke collapses to the floor, his hand outstretched toward Shiori, who is unable to grasp it.

But a journalist, seeing the open door and the painting next to Kaisuke, decided to defame him. He was envious of Kaisuke because of what he had published in the news: that Kaisuke possessed a forbidden painting he didn't want to display, that it was all a lie, and that Kaisuke wasn't who he seemed.

Kaisuke's image declined, causing people to no longer admire him, only wanting to see the forbidden painting. This resulted in a black liquid covering part of the painting where Shiori was. Kaisuke was nervous, but he didn't show it to the public.

But when they were both seven years old, Shiori fell into a well near a temple, and after that, she became ill, leaving her in a very fragile state. When they both turned eight, they discovered their love for art and painting, which Keisuke used to help Shiori forget, even for a little while, that she was sick. After months, Shiori wasn't improving, and Keisuke went to pray at the same temple for help. As if it heard him, a shadow appeared, without a mouth or color, just a shadow with white eyes, which Keisuke guided to his house so that it could help his sister or heal her. That shadow took a blank canvas in one hand and Shiori's hand in the other, something that left Keisuke confused, as he watched a beautiful wooden frame appear, almost golden in color, as the canvas appeared. After that the blank canvas turned to black, and that was what the shadow left before it left.

Shiori died two months before her tenth birthday, along with Keisuke, and it devastated the Arisue family. But three weeks later, Keisuke saw in his room the same canvas with the frame left by the shadow depicting Shiori, which confused them both. But the same shadow appeared again to explain.

"If you wish to preserve her soul, you must strengthen it through art. Do not let them see it, or its end will come through it."

After the explanation about the shadow, Kaisuke began to improve his painting techniques, gaining recognition not only in his city but also in the surrounding towns. When he turned 17, he was able to go to the capital, Tokyo, to study at university. When he finished his studies at 21, he managed to connect with people to sell his art and become even more popular, gaining national recognition. He found the energy of happiness and positive emotions that Shiori needed to live. But they both lamented that they needed so much of that positive energy just to hold hands for a few seconds before needing more. At 25, he managed to have his own museum to display his paintings, becoming even more internationally recognized, and people come to see each new work created by Kaisuke.

But his relationship with his parents wasn't very good. They couldn't accept Keisuke's job because it reminded them of Shiori, and they were never able to get over their loss. However, they always supported Keisuke in pursuing his dream. But when Keisuke managed to become financially stable on his own, his parents cut off contact with him because they couldn't bear to see him without seeing Shiori.
