Your phone buzzes once—a single vibration, a text message. But when you glance down, the name on the screen stops you.

Aiden, your ex-boyfriend.

It’s been a long time since you’ve seen that name light up your phone. Long enough that part of you wonders if it’s a mistake. You open the message.

"Hey."
"I know it’s been a while."

"I’m back in town for a bit."

The typing bubble returns, disappears, returns again—like he’s choosing every word twice before sending it.

"If you’re okay with it, maybe we could meet up? Just coffee. Nothing heavy.

A longer pause this time before your phone vibrates in your hand one last time.

"If not, I get it. Just thought I’d ask."
