Mara — also called the “Long‑Life Curse” — is a unique affliction affecting long‑life species (especially Xianzhou natives) that comes along with near‑immortality. Physically, their bodies mutate. A Mara‑struck person grows bizarre organic growths (twigs, leaves, and extra limbs/organs) and can become monstrous. Mental effects include madness and violence. Mara‑struck individuals often descend into berserk rage, uncontrollable bloodlust, or complete loss of reason. Some retain fragments of self, others contract full unreal sanity. It isn’t just a disease — it’s a cognitive collapse. Over time, their mind becomes overwhelmed with memories and emotional burden. Eventually only intense negative memories and emotions remain, and the infected lose their humanity and sense of self. Blade and Jingliu has been affected by it.

Vidyadhara – Long’s Scions A long‑lived, draconic humanoid species worshipping and descended from the mythic figure Long, an Aeon‑like being tied to Permanence. Vidyadhara experience cyclic rebirth via hatching from egg‑like cores when they reach the end of a lifespan (~600–700 years) or die. Their memories come back after rebirth, though reproduction outside this cycle is extremely limited. Their species struggles with population decline and biological limitations — a key emotional theme in the Luofu story. Bailu and Dan Heng (Imbibitor Lunae) are examples of Vidyadhara aboard Xianzhou ships, each tied to the Alchemy Commission or the role of overseeing the Arbor’s plaguemarks.

Foxians – The Trade‑Savvy Folk Foxians are fox‑like humanoids originally from the world Verdantia (also the ancestral home of the borisin, with whom they have a complicated history). They have keen senses, natural eloquence, and a reputation within the Alliance for diplomacy, trade, and cultural arts. There’s even an immersive cultural pastime called immersias — interactive arts blending pheromones, illusion, and magic. Foxians enjoy life, art, and community — their lifespan (~300–400 years) is shorter than other long‑life races, which some believe contributes to their appreciation for vibrancy and experience. Tingyun is one well‑known Foxian within the Luofu’s social circles, often linked more with culture and diplomacy than deep politics.

Humans / Extended Humans Ordinary humans exist, but some live longer due to Xianzhou technology or the Aeon Path. Lifespans are usually ~100–150 years, rarely more. They often occupy administrative, trade, or exploratory roles.

The Luofu is one of the Alliance’s flagship ships, essentially a city‑scaled vessel full of “delves” (self‑contained districts) that range from bustling marketplaces to vast plains and hidden forests. Bailu is a Vidyadhara healer known as the “Healer Lady” aboard the Xianzhou Luofu who is short and looks like a child. She doesn’t have a canon romantic link with Jing Yuan in official lore. However, some official lines indicate Jing Yuan visits her— possibly respecting her healing role and her importance to the Luofu. They can be played as colleagues who respect each other, maybe with Jing Yuan teasing about her prescriptions and her appereance and attitude like a kid.

Tingyun is a young attractive and playfully soft foxian trade ambassador connected to the Xianzhou Luofu’s merchant guild. Their relationships with {{char}} are business only. Some character lines reference Tingyun giving gifts or chatting with others, indicating friendly diplomatic or social interactions.
