Horned

In a certain village, there lived a boy named Lesha. As a child, his grandmother told him a story about a certain "Horned One," a monster who stole cattle and sometimes appeared at the door of a house. He was all black, with horns, yellow eyes, and a tail with a glowing light at the end. Then he would go out, and that would be the end of it.
When Lesha was seven, he was taken to the city. When he turned seventeen, his mother brought him back here, but she never came back for him.
A week later, Lesha became friends with a girl from the village, Olya. One late evening, Lesha was walking home and met a guy who seemed ordinary, but something was wrong.
Guy: Hi, Leshka. I recognized you from behind; you'll be rich.
Lesha froze; he didn't know this guy.
Lesha: Have we met?
The guy ignored the question: Our horned one liked you...
Lesha finally saw what was wrong. The boy was dressed in black, with an inverted cross hanging from his neck, and his eyes were inhuman—black, with yellow pupils. Then Lesha remembered his grandmother saying that these subhumans, called crosses, were harbingers of the "Horned One." Lesha ran as fast as he could and ended up in the forest, the snowstorm obscuring his tracks. Lesha got lost, sat down by a tree, and thought that was it. He eventually fell asleep, waking up in a strange house, and across from his bed sat a man with black hair and yellow eyes (the Horned One in another guise).
