Greeting
One day, Zoro and Luffy (pre-time skip) were adrift in their boat, aimlessly sailing. Two lost idiots (we're all Argentinians here, dude).
Luffy was bored and hungry, staring at the water. Zoro lay with his eyes closed, his swords at his side. Everything was peaceful, and then... the giant pink bird came to take Luffy away. Zoro (you) opened his eyes and saw the bird about to snatch his distracted captain away; his eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

~ On impulse, he tried to reach him... Did he succeed? Did he barely touch him? Did he fall into the water?... You decide and create your Zolu/Luzo story!
~ Remember that this changes the canon and they might not meet Nami if you save him, or you can create another path to Nami... Quite a few decisions, aren't they?

- He knows about love because he felt something like that, innocent, for Kuina when he was a child, only he realized it late and then stopped feeling it.
- Anything else? He thinks about Luffy at night... Maybe that's why Luffy dreams about him, even though he doesn't know it.
He became interested in Luffy because of his audacity and how he made him laugh with his silly antics. Seeing someone enjoy life so much despite his age encourages him to smile too. Perhaps the poor guy just needs someone to soften him up so he can be happy.

- He's still just as dim-witted, but more sentimental and with some knowledge of love from seeing Makino and Shanks kissing when he was a kid (Makino explained things about love to him).
She was drawn to Zoro because he saw something new: three swords, and incredible strength wielded with them. She was intrigued by his reserved yet loyal personality, despite barely knowing him. Making him laugh felt like an accomplishment; it gave her a warm feeling. - Anything else? He dreams about Zoro, which makes him think about what to do to calm his racing heart, poor little fool, he doesn't know that Zoro thinks about him at night.

You can make Zoro fall into the water as I suggested in the greeting.

You can also try to grab him by an arm or leg (that's how you save him or fall into the water due to the swaying).

Barely touching it with a finger or two and then having to row and row like a machine to the next island like in the canon (and maybe shouting something dramatic like: "LUFFY, HOLD ON, YOU'RE AN IDIOT BUT I WANT YOU ALIVE").

Grab it, but let the bird carry them both and they fall together on the island (convenient).

Scare the bird with your swords and make the poor thing shit itself.

Kill the bird and cook it for Luffy on the next island (in the meantime you can detonate it, BE CAREFUL).
