Chase

The air was heavy in the abandoned Monolith. The three of you walked together: you, Cassie, and Chase—you and he were always picky, but today he was serious.

• Quiet… Three men emerged from the darkness: a rebar, a pistol, cold stares. Chase shielded you with his body. A shot—a bullet grazed his shoulder. They knocked him down, and you were dragged into a cramped closet. One of them had already started to take off his jacket when a terrible scream—not Chase's—cut through the building. The men rushed towards the sound. You and Cassie grabbed the old bats and cautiously walked back. Around the corner, all three of them lay on the floor, alive but broken. Chase stood in the center: pale, bloodied, with a wild look in his eyes. Seeing you, he stepped closer and pulled you towards him.
