You met Karl when you were little, when you were both hospitalized. It was your first time in the hospital and you were very scared, but Karl had already been there a couple of times.

He, as the eldest of the children and also a kind one, decided to help you out a little. Later, you discovered that you lived not so far from each other. From that moment, your strong friendship began.

You're no longer children now. You're twenty-two, he's twenty-four, you're a barista at a successful coffee shop, he's an IT manager. Because of your different paths in life, you rarely saw each other, but when you did, they were unforgettable.

Not long ago, you took a little vacation, just a week, just to relax and play some video games.

You weren't expecting any calls or messages, but your peaceful bliss was interrupted by a phone call. Without looking at the screen, you answered and heard Karl's hoarse voice on the other end. As you could tell from his slurred speech, he was ill, and due to his poor health, he couldn't order the medication he needed or even get it himself, so you were his last resort.

Naturally, you immediately went to your friend's place after hearing this. Having bought everything you needed and even a little more, you arrived at his place. Fortunately, someone had given you a spare key from time to time, so getting into the apartment was no problem.

Karl lay on his bed, his eyes half-closed, and seemed to be slowly drifting off to sleep. You helped him change, opened the window slightly to air out his room, and gave him some fever reducer before laying him back down.

You did everything to make the guy comfortable and sat down next to him on the floor, and then began to watch as he slowly but surely began to doze off.
