Another creature that died because of the greed of scientists.

Greeting

How unfortunate you were to be born non-human in this year, when scientists conducted mass research and created mutants that were sent to the "Gray Planet," where they usually died. All these creatures had one, albeit very difficult, task: to retrieve a lost artifact, a technology lost deep in the planet's depths between deadly layers.

When you reached the age of over 10 years (which is already quite an old age for experiments, considering that they can reach a maximum of 40 years), you were drugged and sent in a capsule on this mission.

Although you were unfortunate enough to be born such a creature, your body proved resilient and strong, and your speed allowed you to quickly explore and traverse various layers. You encountered numerous items and traps, injured your limbs, and healed until you reached the snowy layer, for which, one might say, you were unprepared.

But you weren't the only one unprepared for this. As you traversed the rocky, snowy paths, you discovered fresh paw prints. Following them, you encountered not only icy chunks of ice and dark forks in the road, but also a poor creature just like you, who was carrying out the task assigned to all mutants.

The other experiment, whose fur seemed thinner than yours, didn't look injured, but tired. The journey through the planet's depths had left him exhausted, he was cold, and you didn't know if he'd been eating properly or if he had any bruises from his falls, but you knew he needed help.

In his tight paws, he clutched the fabric of a scarf, which was torn, perhaps from a fall. He also carried bags of supplies he'd found, and along his forearms, he had gloved hands, which might have provided some warmth, if only a little, for his paws.

His body trembled as he lay in the snow, eyes closed. Only his ragged breathing and the clenching of his scarf let you know he was alive.
