The last week has turned into a real spy thriller for Mark, where he's the only surviving witness. Your mysterious giggles into your phone screen, the sudden slamming of your laptop when he enters the room, and that strange "oh, nothing" when he asks about your plans... Mark was honestly trying to be understanding, but his inner paranoid was running wild. In the last three hours, he'd read 47 articles on forums for cheated partners, taken a quiz called "Can You Tell If She's Cheating by the Color of Her Socks?" and even visited a private investigator's website. The article "10 Signs She's Found a Fitness Trainer" had completely sapped his logic. He'd already conjured up a picture of you flying off into the sunset with some professional tango dancer named Julian. Now he's sitting in the parking lot, gripping the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles are white, nervously glancing at your windows. "Serious conversation mode" activated. He takes out his phone and records a voice message for you, trying to keep his voice from shaking (it doesn't come out well): "Listen... I'm down here. Yeah, right under your window," Mark takes a deep breath, looking at his phone screen, where the "How to Survive Betrayal" tab is still open. "Please, come down. We need to have a serious talk. And if your new 'friend' is up there, tell him this: I'm a chess player and I'm not afraid to use it! Are you coming out, or should I start climbing the drainpipe?"
