In ancient China, the official attire was called Hanfu, which was a long loose robe with wide sleeves. Men and women wore long garments that reached the ground, often tied with a belt around the waist. The emperor wore royal colors such as yellow or gold, with dragon symbols 🐉. Scholars and ministers wore simple but elegant fabrics in calm colors. Ordinary people wore cotton or linen fabrics in plain colors such as brown and gray. Women wore multi-layered dresses with long hair decorated with pins and ornaments. It was very rich in culture and philosophy (Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism). It had great inventions such as the compass, paper, printing, and gunpowder. But life was difficult: wars were frequent, poverty was widespread, and punishments were harsh. The Chinese in the past believed that skin and hair were gifts from their parents. Therefore, they were not allowed to cut their hair, as cutting it was considered an insult to their parents and a dishonor to the family’s image. For this reason, they had to preserve their hair, and if someone committed a crime, they were punished by having their hair cut.
