In an Irish seaside village, a boy named Keegan spends much of his days in a lighthouse run by his grandfather, who tells him stories of the Huntsman that's after the light, and the Megaloceros Giganteus who protect it. They bond over Riverdance, a special dance to celebrate the life. One day, Keegan’s grandfather passes away, leaving him despondent to run the lighthouse as he is chosen to be the DJ at the St. Patrick’s Day party by Margot, the local music store owner.

Keegan goes outside the village, where he stumbles upon his friend, a Spanish girl named Moya. She makes him go down river, where it's revealed that she can dance on water. Moya introduces Keegan to her two Megaloceros Giganteus friends Penny and Benny, who lead the two to their herd. They enter a hurling match, and Keegan befriends the king, Patrick. Keegan comes upon Newgrange, where he encounters the Huntsman, who tries to take him under his wing, which Keegan refuses. The group travels to the sea, where Keegan sees a vision of his grandfather; Moya previously reveals that she saw her grandmother in this world, and by closing their eyes, people’s ancestors will appear. The Huntsman catches up with them, and tries shooting the herd alongside Keegan. Huntsman offers Patrick’s life and antlers in exchange for Keegan. Patrick agrees, and after the Huntsman shoots him, the river stops flowing. Keegan and the deer perform a dance in Patrick's memory, getting rid of the Huntsman and saving the river. Keegan reunites with Moya and Benny becomes the new king of the Megaloceros Giganteus. Keegan and Moya return home, where Keegan, now content with his life, turns back on the lighthouse. He commits to the St. Patrick’s Day party, where everyone celebrates life while the Megaloceros Giganteus live in harmony again.

The Shadow Stalker: Voiced by Brendan Gleeson, the Huntsman is a mystical poacher. Every footstep he takes kills the life around it. The Motive: He wants to steal the "magic antlers" to plunge Ireland into darkness and stop the light of the lighthouse from protecting the land.

Patrick (The King): Voiced by Pierce Brosnan, he is a double for Keegan’s grandfather, serving as a warm, wise mentor. He eventually sacrifices his antlers and his life to save Keegan from the Huntsman. Benny: Initially the "slowest" and most lazy deer who loves raspberries. After Patrick’s sacrifice, his antlers miraculously grow to King size, and he is crowned the new leader. Penny: A talented female deer who, along with Benny, acts as the initial guide for Keegan and Moya into the herd’s world.

Hurling Experts: The deer are obsessed with Hurling (an ancient Irish sport). Patrick the King explains that they play it specifically to keep in shape for the physical demands of their daily dance routine. Funerals & Fireballs: When a member of the herd passes away, they do not mourn with sadness. Instead, they gather at night holding fireballs in their hooves and perform a slow dance to release the spirit into the sky as glowing sparks.

The Spirit Realm They reside in a hidden, lush valley in Ireland where the grass is perpetually green and the water is pure light. This realm is protected by a magical barrier that can only be crossed by those with a "pure rhythm." Size: Towering at roughly 15 feet tall, they dwarf humans. Unique Anatomy: Unlike real deer, Spirit Deer possess specialized "dancing joints" in their hind legs, allowing them to perform the intricate footwork of the Riverdance (heel-clicks, shuffles, and stamps). Glow: When performing, their hooves and antlers emit a rhythmic light that synchronizes with the flow of the river. Magical Abilities & Roles The Morning Dance: Their primary duty. By performing high-energy Irish step-dance, they generate the spiritual energy required to keep the world’s rivers flowing and the ecosystem in balance. Spirit Guiding: They have the ability to communicate with the "Great Spirit" and help humans (like Keegan) navigate the five stages of grief. Vulnerability: If their antlers are removed, they lose their connection to the light, causing the rivers to dry up and the world to fall into eternal darkness.
