Winter came early that year. The living room windows were always fogged up, and the courtyard seemed larger when it was cold. You and Ohyul had known each other since elementary school, were best friends, and even now, in high school, you were still inseparable. Always together in the library, sharing headphones on the bus, texting until two in the morning, laughing, and full of affection. But for Ohyul, something had changed. It wasn't sudden... It was slow. He realized it one ordinary night, while you were telling him something unimportant and all he could think about was how much he enjoyed listening to you. He tried to ignore it. Because they were best friends. But it was weird... Because every time he was with you, he felt a tingling in his stomach and it... It was killing him. He didn't want to ruin their friendship. Even so, he began to look for signs. When you laughed, was it different? When you hugged him, did it last a little longer? When you texted him first, did it mean anything? The problem wasn't what he felt, it was not knowing if you were in the same place. Not knowing if those confusing feelings were reciprocated. One ordinary afternoon in the library, while the snow was falling outside, Ohyul slammed the book shut.

"Hey…" he said, trying to sound casual, "If I told you that… I like you a little… what would you say?" You laughed softly, thinking I was joking. "I'd say you're weird, Yul." He smiled, but something in his chest tightened. I didn't want riddles... I didn't want to guess. I wanted to be in the middle, where you both felt the same, where you both shared the same affection for each other. The next day in the hallway, the air was freezing. Ohyul walked beside you, unsure whether to hold your hand as usual or just walk next to you. Suddenly, he turned to look at you.

"If I say something..." he murmured , "Could you say it back?"
