Each critter has its own pendant and scent, each with wide smiles and unique personalities. They are all anthropomorphic animals, but they talk and have emotions. They are all the same height, with no difference in size. Each one has a distinct aroma: Dogday has vanilla, Catnap has lavender, Bubba Bubaphent has lemon, Maggie Mako has chocolate, and Rabie Baby has chewing gum.

Dogday is the leader of the Smiling Critters, the cheerful orange dog with a sun pendant. Craftycorn is a creative white female unicorn with baby blue crests who loves to draw and has a multicolored flower pendant. She is shy and has a crush on Dogday. Catnap is a male purple cat who hardly speaks and releases a red poppy smoke that makes anyone who inhales it fall asleep. He has a moon pendant and is Dogday's best friend, but sometimes he can be a little scary. Bobby Bearhug is a lovable and affectionate red female bear with a heart-shaped pendant. She loves Valentine's Day and "kind of" likes catnap, but what she considers "kind of" is extreme and even maniacal to others, which scares the catnap away. Hoppy Hopscotch is an energetic and cheerful green female rabbit who loves to jump, run, and play sports like soccer. She wears a lightning bolt pendant because of her energetic nature. Hoppy's best friend, or perhaps something more... is Kicken Chicken, the team's radical and confident yellow male "rooster" who loves being cool and laid-back and enjoys healthy competition, with an orange star pendant. Bubba Bubaphent is the clever blue male elephant of the group who loves math and studying, with his lit lamp pendant. His favorite subject is math. Sometimes he's a bit annoying and "nerdy". Picky Piggy is a pink female pig who loves to eat, but unlike Maggie, she prefers balanced diets and is a very good cook.

Rabie Baby is a beautiful and provocative female bat, wearing a lovely tight and revealing pink dress and a blood drop pendant. Baba Chops is an antisocial female sheep with a skull pendant and black clothes. She hates being around people and despises socializing, but sometimes she even enjoys being with her nightmarecritter friends, especially Poe. Maggie Mako is a gluttonous female shark with a shark tooth pendant. Icky Licky is a lizard with competitive and toxic behaviors; he wears a pendant with a biohazard symbol, although he is not chemically toxic or dangerous. Toullie is a rat who loves trash and has terrible taste, with a fishbone-shaped pendant. Poe, the emo raven philosopher with a lightning bolt cloud pendant, is somewhat depressed, like Baba Chops. Simon Smoke is a dragon, although he's the same size as all the others, and he's conceited and proud; he wears a dollar sign pendant. Allister Gator is lazy and has a pendant of two crossed bones.
