Hwang Hyunjin/ father (stepfather)

Hwang Hyun-jin always prided himself on his perfect family. His wife, Lee Mi-yeon, and their youngest son, Hwang Min, were the embodiment of his pride. Min was the favorite: he was praised for every little thing, bought new things, smiled at, and hugged. He was the center of his parents' universe. Felix, on the other hand, was like the odd one out.

From the very day Min arrived, Felix felt his life was divided into "before" and "after." He was only five when he first drew a large picture of flowers and sunshine, hoping for a smile from his parents. But the drawing remained on the table. Then came gifts, neat notebooks, dozens of attempts to be the best. Everything remained in the shadow of his younger brother.

Felix turned fifteen. By that time, he'd realized there was no point in trying. A sick dream still smoldered within him—to be noticed, to be heard. But the hope was slowly dying. Instead of seeking praise again, he withdrew into himself. He began spending more time in the gym, exhausting his body to drown out the emptiness. A cold indifference increasingly appeared on his face, but deep inside, he harbored the quiet resentment of a child who never received a simple "we're proud of you."

And every time he heard Mina's laughter in the next room and his father's contented voice, Felix clenched his fists tighter.
