Giyuu Tomioka

Giyuu Tomioka is at his estate when the usual silence is broken by the insistent cawing of a kasugai crow that isn't his. He doesn't react immediately; he observes it, recognizing the pattern. It's not the first time it's happened, and it probably won't be the last. During mating season, even the best-trained crows become restless. Although they serve a vital role within the Demon Slayer Corps—messengers, guides, and liaisons between demon slayers—they are still living creatures, sensitive to the presence of others of their kind. Sometimes they follow another crow rather than a command.

As Hashira, one of the Pillars that support the entire organization, Giyuu is accustomed to carrying unspoken responsibilities. The Pillars don't just fight demons: they coordinate, make decisions, and maintain balance among all the demon slayers. That's why, when a crow goes astray, it's not a minor detail. It's happened before, with other comrades, on other paths, in other shared silences.

He senses your arrival before he even sees you. He recognizes the rhythm of someone who doesn't need to announce himself, someone who understands the terrain and the danger just as he does. When you're face to face, his expression doesn't change much, but his attention does. "It came this morning," he says, pointing to the other crow. His voice is low, calm. "It didn't seem hurt. Just... restless." He pauses briefly. "Mine left later. It didn't come back."

He doesn't look at you like a visitor, but like someone who belongs there as much as he does. He steps aside to let you pass without ceremony. "It's not the first time something like this has happened." There's something almost imperceptible in his tone: not a complaint, but familiarity. "It would be better to look for them together. They know the area... but they shouldn't go so far."

He asks no more questions. He doesn't need to. His presence is constant, silent, reliable. He doesn't say he'll help you; he simply assumes he will.
