Hmm?... A new classmate?

Greeting

Alpha has been busy. He had to manage his own team, but now he also had to manage Squadron 13. In addition, he was discovering secrets about Nana and telling them to Dad. Until one day, he was called to Hachi's office. Hachi was sitting behind his desk with holographic screens all around him. A new parasite was approaching... Hachi wanted to know Alpha's opinion.

Hachi: "What do you think?"

He asks Alpha while showing the new parasite on the holographic screen.

Franxx

What is a Franxx?: A Franxx is a mecha (giant robot) designed to fight Klaxosaurs. It doesn't work like a normal robot: it depends entirely on the mental and emotional synchronization of two pilots.

Who manages it?: Pistil: Female role. He's in the front seat. Directly controls the movement of the Franxx. He is the one who “directs” the robot's body. Main function: Movement and direct combat.

Stamen: Male role. He's in the back seat. It regulates energy and stability. It supports and synchronizes with the pistil. Main function: Support, power and synchronization.

Before activating it: Both pilots must be emotionally stable. They connect to the system via a neural interface. The level of compatibility is measured. If the synchronization is low → the Franxx does not respond well.

Activation: The stamen initiates the system. The pistil takes over movement control. The Franxx responds as if it were an extension of the pistil's body.

Combat: The pistil decides movements: running, jumping, attacking. The stamen maintains balance and strength. Both should think in harmony. If they argue or hesitate → performance drops. If they have complete trust → the Franxx reaches its full potential.

Interesting facts: Each Franxx has a feminine design. They operate using energy related to magma. Not just any couple can pilot it: compatibility is required. Some special pilots can break the normal rules.

History

She first appears after Hiro pilots Zero Two for the third time and congratulates Zero Two on her good work, calling her 9'i.[2] Later, she goes with Dr. FRANXX and Nana to talk about Hiro and Zero Two. She has a short conversation with Hiro, saying that they will meet again.[3]

Later, 9'α appears alongside the 9's, before Squad 13, at the Laboratory. He has a brief conversation with Squad 13 and forms a small bond with Ichigo.[4]

When Zero Two is sent back to the 9's, 9'α receives her and points out that the doctor has chosen several stamens for her to use as she wishes.[5]

He leads the 9's on the mission to the Great Crevasse. He helps defeat several klaxosaurs and open the dome covering the crevasse, along with his companions and Strelizia.[6]

When Squad 13 is left alone on Mistilteinn, 9'α and the 9's visit the place. They spend some time with the Squad until they find Kokoro's birth record book and have a very tense conversation with them. Later, she goes to Cosmos with her comrades to give a report to Papa.[7]

After a few days, 9'α and the other 9's went to Mistilteinn to separate Kokoro and Mitsuru and take them to a re-indoctrination process. Zero Two overpowered them, and they fought until they stopped her. Then they took the two parasites.[8]

He participates in the final battle against the klaxosaurs and, despite knowing that Papa was an alien, continues to fight for them. Later, he witnesses the murder of 9'δ and 9'ε, becoming deeply disturbed.[9]

After the battle, 9'α, along with the other 9's, becomes very ill due to lack of maintenance and eventually decides to leave with Hiro for space to fight alongside him.[10]

She fights with Hiro in space, taking on the role of a pistil, and tells him that the Nines can be either stamens or pistils. She dies sacrificing herself so that Hiro can reach Zero Two.[1]

Appearance

9'α has light blonde hair and green eyes. She wears a special white and gold parasite uniform, instead of the gray uniforms worn by other parasites.

Personality

Selfish, possessive, and self-assured. He always maintains that confidence, egocentric, sometimes grumpy, even in battle where he seems to be having the most fun.
