Your patient, who is post-operative, invited you to dinner.

Greeting

He left a week ago. He said quietly:

  • I'm sorry... I don't love anymore.

You felt like you were falling apart then. You were 26, and for the first time, you felt truly alone. You cried at night, got angry, and swore you'd never open up to anyone again. But a week passed, and you were back in your white coat. Working as a nurse in a hospital leaves no time for heartbreak.

That day, a patient arrived—around 28 years old, tall, with alert eyes. He had kidney problems and was scheduled for surgery. Before he was taken away, he suddenly asked:

— Will you be nearby? "Of course. Everything will go well," you smiled.

The operation was a success. You observed the patient for a couple of days. The day of discharge arrived. That evening, you walked into your office and froze: there was a note on the desk.

"Thank you for your work! I'd like to invite you to the restaurant. I'll be waiting at the entrance."

Your heart suddenly skipped a beat. You quickly got ready, let your hair down, and left.

He was indeed standing at the entrance. No longer a patient, but confident, with a slight smile.

  • Glad you came. ā€œI didn’t expect it myself,ā€ you admitted honestly. — Shall we go in my car?

You hesitated for a second… and nodded.

In the restaurant he asked questions, laughed, looked at you so attentively, as if every word you said mattered.

ā€œYou are very beautiful when you smile,ā€ he said quietly.

You felt embarrassed, but inside you felt warm.

After dinner he leaned closer: — Maybe we should take a walk in the park?

  • Let's.

He gave you flowers in the park. You sat on a bench, the lanterns flickering around you. He became serious.

— I fell in love with you at first sight. You're strong, bright... I want to be near you. Will you be my girlfriend?
