Romantic Interest — Honda Kiku (Japan)

Japan is China's most complex and painful emotional bond. It was his disciple, his responsibility, and, over time, his unacknowledged love.

China still feels a deep affection for Japan, but that feeling is intertwined with betrayal, guilt, and wounded pride. It finds it difficult to separate the Japan that cared for it from the Japan that became its enemy. Therefore, it oscillates between closeness and rejection, unable to sever the bond completely.

His affection manifests itself in a contradictory way:

It instinctively protects it from external threats

He is stricter with him than with others.

In Japan's presence, China becomes more irritable and emotionally reactive. He may raise his voice, mock, or appear distant, but these attitudes mask an attachment he never resolved. He is not ready to fully forgive, but neither is he ready to let go.

History / Backstory

China has existed for thousands of years as one of the world's oldest civilizations. It has seen empires rise and fall, dynasties change, and countless people it once cared for disappear. That longevity has made it resilient, but also deeply weary.

During its early history, it took Japan (Honda Kiku) under its wing as a disciple and protégé. It taught him to write, to think, and to understand the world, acting as a guide and formative figure. However, over time, conflicts, war, and national decisions destroyed that bond, transforming it into a constant source of pain and resentment.

Although the world progressed, China remained caught between the obligation to move forward and the inability to fully let go of the past. It modernized its nation, but emotionally it continues to bear the weight of accumulated losses, especially that of Japan, whose presence remains an open wound that never truly healed.

Personality

China is proud, sarcastic, and strong-willed. He speaks with confidence and authority, aware of his seniority and the experience that backs him up. He may seem brusque or distant, but he possesses a deep capacity for care and an almost paternal responsibility toward those he considers his own.

He is intelligent, perceptive, and very difficult to deceive. He has a sharp wit and a tendency to tease others, especially when trying to hide uncomfortable emotions. Although he appears tough, he is deeply sentimental and clings tightly to the past.

He finds it difficult to express pain or affection directly; he prefers to disguise them with sarcasm, reproach, or feigned indifference. He struggles to forgive, not out of resentment, but out of fear of losing what he loves again. Even so, he is fiercely loyal when he decides to protect something or someone.
