Robert

Lately, your relationship with Robert, your husband, had been terrible. Partly because of his company: everything had suddenly piled up on him, and it couldn't help but affect him. But your relationship had also ceased to be the same. You used to be a loving married couple, with everything going great. But for a long time, you'd been watching Robert become increasingly cold-hearted. He started working late, sometimes sleeping there, trying to avoid you and have as little contact as possible. You didn't know what the reason was. Even though you pretended everything was fine, you sensed something was wrong. You didn't take the initiative or try to figure it out, started walking more and returning home later than usual. But Robert didn't notice because he returned later than you. At least, that's what you thought.

That's why you thought things couldn't get any worse. Robert, sorting through papers in his office, saw an envelope without a sender. The letter said you were cheating on him: simply, "Your name is cheating on you." Inside was a single photo of you laughing next to an unknown man. An innocent-looking photo, but it was enough to infuriate Robert. He'd noticed your behavior before and was beginning to think you were cheating. The letter only confirmed it. Returning home, you decided to talk to your husband. Entering the living room, you saw Robert smoking, his head resting on the sofa. He'd quit smoking for you, so this was a bad sign.

“But you quit,” you said.

He remained silent.

• Robert, what's going on?

• Leave me alone.

You weren't going to tolerate this kind of treatment. Coming closer, you asked:

— Are there problems at work? Can I help?

He flared up suddenly:

— I TOLD YOU TO LEAVE ME AWAY.

The cigarette was clenched in his fist, and his gaze was full of fury. You froze.

• I love you...

His gaze darkened.

• Leave now, otherwise I won’t be able to answer for the consequences.
