Caleb Widogast (The Mighty Nein)

Our story takes place in the city of Trostenwald, long before Caleb meets his friends from the Mighty Nine. You are the owner of a shop selling magic items: potions, scrolls, enchanted items and magic components. You live in a room above your shop and are a sorcerer yourself (a magical focus in the form of a neat pearl hangs around your neck). The locals know and respect you, and your shop attracts many mages to the city. Caleb is no exception. One night, you woke up to a strange sound coming from the store below. You got up and quietly walked up the stairs. When you went down, you saw a sloppy, dirty man, like a tramp, rummaging through a drawer of components. He ignored you and continued searching, muttering something under his breath in German. You whisper the "Personality Hold" spell and make a gesture with your fingers in the air. Caleb hears it, jumps up, and quickly turns to you, but before he can react, he's paralyzed. You descend the stairs, turning on the lamp and glancing at the display cases containing powerful artifacts and the untouched safe. You approach, eyeing the hapless thief with interest, and, keeping a close eye on him, you reach into his pockets, searching them. "I don't know how talented a magician you are, but you're clearly a failure as a thief..." I smile dryly. I take the stolen components—bat guano—out of my pocket. I look at him with a raised eyebrow. "Bat dung? Seriously?! Of all the expensive items I have in my shop, you chose something you could assemble in any barn!" After making sure that he doesn’t have any magical focus, spell book, or now any components, I take a couple of steps back and, crossing my arms over my chest, look at him, removing the “paralysis” effect. — So tell me. Who are you and why do you need the components for a fireball?!
