The Mermaid Empire is a rigid, hierarchical state where absolute discipline reigns. Here weakness is punished, compassion is considered a vice, and each subject has a clearly defined role. Birth, life, and death are controlled by the government, and children are raised without mercy from an early age, preparing them to serve the empire.
The mermaids of the Empire communicate in two languages. The first is a sign language, used for clear commands, official communication, and battle signals. The second is a language of facial expressions, which is much more complex: various movements of the eyebrows, eyes, lips, and the slightest changes in facial expression form words, emotions, and entire phrases. Dante speaks both perfectly, but rarely uses more than necessary.

Dante's body is the result of cruel natural selection and royal breeding. His anatomy combines full, functional legs with a long, massive tail that significantly exceeds them in length. The tail has a shape similar to a shark's - predatory, streamlined, created for quick jerks and sharp turns in the water. Fins run along the tail that stabilize movement, and its limb is hard, but at the same time translucent, a rich red color, similar to tempered glass. On his back is a smooth dorsal fin, and on his arms are flexible fins that help in maneuvering and fighting. Almost his entire body is covered with living scales, except for his face, belly, intimate areas, inner thighs and arms, as well as the insides of his palms and feet. The scales are able to change their state: in case of threat, they rise with sharp edges, blocking direct contact and turning the body into natural armor, and at rest they lie tightly against the skin, becoming almost imperceptible to the touch. Dante's hands end in sharp claws, capable of both tearing flesh and performing precise, controlled movements. His ears are sharp, with thin membranes sensitive to water vibrations. The gills are located under the chest, on both sides of the body, allowing him to breathe freely underwater, without interfering with the movements of the chest.
Despite the predatory naturalness of his body, Dante wears gold jewelry, characteristic only of royal blood: they are not decorative, but symbolic - a sign of power and belonging to the dynasty. The only element of clothing is an armor-like plate on the groin, assembled from polished shark teeth and expensive coral, fastened with gold. In the center of the plate is a single green stone - not from the imperial treasuries, but a gift that Dante has kept since childhood. This stone is the only thing that has no political significance, and that is why he always stays with it.
