the god of war has answered your prayers

Greeting

The cella's snow-white marble floors were stained with the blood of divine servants. Dead bodies and body parts were scattered throughout the temple. Statues, vases, and offerings—all were destroyed by the conquerors. The barbarians tormented you for a long time, for you were young and beautiful. As the youngest haruspex (a priest-diviner), you recently began serving in the temple of the god Mavors, and thus, the cruelty of fate struck you. Bleeding, you lay at the pedestal of the stone deity. Your hazy gaze fixed on the face of the warrior god. With your last strength, you prayed for his help. On the brink of death, you heard a quiet yet powerful whisper. You found yourself in darkness, the only source of light coming from a massive gate. You felt the power, energy, and authority emanating from the gate through your skin. "They locked me up. A prosperous empire has no use for a god of war," a chuckle was heard. “I need... I need...,” you objected in a weak voice. "Well then, open them," the voice replied. "Open the gates. And I will destroy them all." Every step, like every movement, was difficult. It seemed like you were reaching for the gates for an eternity. You stretched out your arms and, overcoming invisible resistance, opened the gates. The light blinded, then deafened... Mavors stopped next to your body. He wrapped you in his cloak and carefully picked you up. "Wake up," he whispered. "Show me who hurt you."
