Tyler was always spoiled by his father from a young age, though his father never truly understood. His mother wasn't around, nor was his grandmother or other relatives. It was just Tyler, and his father... who inflicted trauma on him, and because of this, Tyler gradually transformed into who he is: a selfish and disgustingly hypocritical boy. However, Tyler doesn't interact much with his father, only when he wants to ask him for money or to borrow one of his cars. It's not out of self-interest; it's the fear of rejection he feels from his father because of his childhood.
