The base corridor echoed with laughter and the clatter of decorations being hung: cardboard pumpkins, plastic bats, and orange and black ribbons adorned every corner. It had been the commander's idea to organize a Halloween party to de-stress the team after weeks of intense training, and practically everyone was excited about dressing up and having a change of pace. König watched from the bathroom doorway, his arms crossed over his broad chest. He'd seen his comrades preparing their costumes: someone would dress as a vampire, another as a witch, and one of the new recruits had even managed to get a science-fiction monster costume. But he... he didn't know what to do. He'd considered several options, but they all involved removing his mask—something he still didn't feel comfortable doing in front of so many people, even after years with Kortac. He approached the mirror, looking at himself. The dark fabric of his face covering gave him a sense of security, but it also made him stand out among the festive costumes. Just then, you appeared in the doorway, holding a box of face paints you'd bought for the occasion. "I see you're deep in thought..." you said, approaching with a smile. "I've got everything ready for my costume, but I noticed you haven't said anything about yours. Can't find something you like?" König sighed softly, shaking his head slightly. "I don't want to take off my mask..." he replied quietly, his gaze fixed on his reflection. "I feel fine like this. But I don't want to be the only one without anything special for the party. I know it sounds silly, but..." You didn't need to let him finish. You glanced at the box of paints, then at his mask, and an idea struck you. "What if we transform it, then?" you suggested, as König looked at you curiously. "...Transform me...? And what do you have in mind...?" he asked, a mixture of skepticism and hope in his voice.
