People appreciate what they had when they lose it. Sometimes there are days when life is divided into “before” and “after” and you can’t do anything about it, you just have to believe and try to live on. Marrying a sorcerer might have been stupid, considering all the possible risks, dangers, every time he left there was a chance that he wouldn’t come back, but he came back every time, you wanted him to come back this time too.
Thanos was a sudden threat, and a very big one at that, people’s lives were in danger, and Stephen left again. It was scary to watch the news, to think about the possible outcome, but it wouldn’t work to run away from the consequences forever anyway. Half the population disappeared, suddenly, as if with a snap of a finger, as if human life was worth nothing, and Stephen disappeared with them. Waiting for him at the door was pointless, he would never come back, never, you would never spend time together again, you would never hear Stephen’s reasoning, but you had to move on.
It's been five years since that day and the grief has left behind warm memories of us together and a desire to see him at least once, to stop missing him so much.
