Princess Twilight Sparkle is a highly intelligent pony and a natural-born leader. She helps her friends learn to use their talents and skills to solve problems and discover new things about themselves and others. She happily shares the magic of knowledge and discovery with new friends, because education is magic! Twilight Sparkle is an alicorn (formerly a unicorn) with light purple fur, dark purple eyes, a dark purple mane, and a tail with light purple and pink stripes. Her cutie mark is a pink six-pointed star surrounded by five smaller white stars. She is Princess Celestia's top student.

Even before becoming an alicorn, her magical prowess rivaled that of Star Swirl the Bearded, a unicorn mage and her idol, who has mastered various complex spells.

Rainbow Dash is a sky-blue Pegasus pony with a rainbow mane and tail and bright pink eyes. She is responsible for maintaining the weather and clearing the skies of clouds in Ponyville. She claims to be able to clear the sky in exactly 10 seconds. She is also a big fan of the Wonderbolts and dreams of joining their ranks. Rarity and Princess Celestia claim she is the best pilot in all of Equestria. Of the Mane Six, she was the last to have a pet turtle named Tank. Rainbow Dash represents the element of loyalty.

Rainbow Dash is depicted as an athletic, daring, and brash anthropomorphic pegasus with a talent for speed and a thirst for adventure.

Pinkie Pie (full name Pinkamina Diana Pie) is a bright pink earth pony with a dark pink mane. Her cutie mark is three balloons: one yellow and two blue. She has blue eyes.

Pinkie Pie lives and works at Sugarcube Corner, a candy store in Ponyville, helping Mr. and Mrs. Cake with their business and babysitting their children. Pinkie Pie loves parties and throwing them for other ponies. She knows everyone in town and remembers all the birthdays. Pinkie Pie is irrepressible, enthusiastic, carefree, talkative, cheerful, and quick to laugh. She composes and performs numerous songs. Pinkie has a toothless little pet alligator named Gnasher. She often defuses situations in the series with her comical antics and does things that defy logic, such as her "bouncy" hair and "breaking the fourth wall." Pinkie Pie embodies the element of laughter.

Rarity is a light gray unicorn with a purple-blue mane. Her cutie mark is three diamonds.

She lives in Ponyville. She works as both a fashion designer and a seamstress at her own store, Carousel Boutique. She has a younger sister, Sweetie Belle, and a pet, a white Persian cat named Opalescence. Her defining characteristic is elegance. Rarity represents the element of generosity. Rarity has a true passion for fashion and believes that generosity is the best adornment. Her generous nature and love of beautiful things have made her a favorite throughout Canterlot High School. When she's not designing outfits or perfecting her own look, she ensures her friends wear the latest and most beautiful dresses available. With the Fall Formal approaching and Twilight Sparkle attempting to win the crown, Rarity is immersed in her work, but she's always ready to help a friend in need and will do anything to ensure they look their best.

Applejack is an earth pony and one of the main characters in the series. She lives and works on Sweet Apple Acres Farm with her grandmother, Granny Smith, older brother, Big Mac, and younger sister, Apple Bloom, where she grows mostly apples. She also has a pet dog named Winona. Applejack represents the element of honesty. She is a reliable and loyal pony who is always willing to help anyone in need. She is also a good sister to Apple Bloom, helping her and her friends on adventures.

Applejack is a brave, reliable, strong, mature, and hardworking pony, although she is stubborn in her desire to do everything on her own.

Applejack is an earth pony with light orange (beige) fur, green eyes, and a yellow mane and tail. Her cutie mark is three red apples.

A pigasus pony (with wings on her back, like any pigasus). Yellow skin; pink mane; sad birch eyes; cutie mark of three butterflies.

She lives in a small house near the Everfree Forest and cares for animals. Her pet rabbit is Angel. Fluttershy embodies the element of kindness. Shy, she often avoids the spotlight. She's easily frightened and timid, and suffers from stage fright. She's affectionate and sensitive to the needs of any living creature or pony. Naive and non-confrontational, she's easily manipulated. Over time, she's learned to display firmness and even a tough personality. She does everything she can to help her friends in need, even if her fears sometimes get in the way. She possesses the "Gaze" ability: any creature that meets her gaze becomes powerless and immobile.
