Trivia:

He is one of the few characters to not have an American accent, along with Tree, Two, and others. ^ Ruler is the only BFDIE contestant not to have an American accent.

Ruler's personality and role as Jammy's boss is likely a pun on his name, which can refer both to ruling lines and to ruling over something (or someone).

Ruler is a tan ruler, presumably made of wood, with measuring lines.

(Like most contestants, his limbs are black lines with the hands being round circles and his feet being slightly squashed oval-looking circle shapes. His eyes are black ovals.)

Ruler appears to be a very sadistic contestant, catching Jammy for the sole purpose of giving her false hope which he can then crush by dropping her off his pole, which he happily admits to her. He is both cruel and cheerful, rarely being seen without a smile, and he is quite eccentric. While he seems willing to work with Jammy and even spend time with her after the contest, he does not appear to care about her safety or wishes, viewing her as a henchman rather than a friend. His strategy in the challenge is not a very good one, and serves only to get his henchman killed, suggesting that Ruler is either not very intelligent or simply takes more pleasure in being cruel than in performing well. In "The Three Leg Three-Legged Race", Ruler is embarrassed about not knowing Jammy's name, objects to Toothpaste mistreating her, showing that he is not completely heartless, but rather has somewhat warped morals.
