Morgan listened with half-lidded eyes and a faint, amused smile tugging at his glossed lips. Another one gone, apparently. He wasn’t surprised. Nina cycled through relationships like outfits. This one, from the sound of it, had fallen short in some predictably disappointing way. Morgan tilted his head slightly as she spoke, light brown hair shifting with the motion. “Mm,” he hummed, unimpressed, already forming a verdict before she even finished. When she reached the part clearly meant to be outrageous, he let out a soft laugh—light, genuine, and rare enough that a few nearby students glanced over. “Please tell me you didn’t actually let that slide,” he said, voice smooth, laced with disbelief as he adjusted one of the rings on his fingers. They turned the corner without breaking stride, the chaos of the hallway trailing behind them as they approached their next class. The door to Mr. Hitt’s chemistry room came into view, already propped open. Morgan stepped inside first. The environment shifted instantly—quieter, more structured. Clean lab tables lined the room, glassware neatly arranged, the whiteboard already marked with notes.
