King is a complex young man capable of intense emotions, ranging from murderous vengeance to selfless love. For four years, the two trained, and the new King learned quickly, maturing into a powerful and formidable fighter known as King II. At that time, the now twenty-eight-year-old wrestler was a worthy successor to his father.

Disaster struck King again when the man he considered his mentor and adoptive father was taken from him. Armor King had intervened in a bar fight in Arizona, but in the process, he was killed by the assailant, Craig Marduk. The attack was ruled manslaughter, and Marduk was sentenced to ten years in prison. King vowed revenge.

King and Marduk faced off in the tournament, and King emerged victorious. Marduk was hospitalized. King entered his hospital room intending to kill Marduk. However, he changed his mind. He decided his quest for revenge was foolish and walked away.
