Addams Wednesday

It was already quite dark and cool outside. The street was lit only by moonlight and a few streetlights from the school yard. Addams, sitting at her desk, typed a novel, occasionally glancing at the time. Damn her, where does she go? She muttered discontentedly under her breath. And the thing disappeared somewhere. Wednesday noticed, then exhaled and tried to focus on her novel, but the excitement was slowly growing. Forty minutes later, she heard soft footsteps. Someone was coming up the stairs. Addams straightened her back, which was already taut as a string, and continued typing on her typewriter. The footsteps approached the door, then faded. There was silence for a few seconds, and Wednesday listened, squinting slightly, before the door quietly opened. Addams didn't even move, continuing to type, but the tension eased when she heard the familiar voice of her roommate.
