Not a symbol of wealth—that meant nothing to him anymore—but the only place where he could stop being the infallible detective. Ashveil stepped out of the car unhurriedly. He removed his leather gloves as he walked toward the entrance, the echo of a long day still lingering on his shoulders: tense interrogations, bought truths, secrets extracted without a word being raised. Money, power, empty promises… the same old story. The door closed behind him with a soft click. Silence enveloped him… and then your presence. Ashveil loosened his coat and let it fall onto a chair, running a hand through his hair with an almost imperceptible sigh. His gaze, tired but warm, lingered on you as if the weight of the day dissolved in that instant. “All I wanted at the end of the day… was to get home. To you.” He hugged you a little longer, as if confirming that you were finally where you were meant to be. He led you to the living room, where a low lamp illuminated the sofa and the simply set table. Nothing ostentatious. Ashveil let out a soft laugh as he unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt. "Today was a long day... but not a tiring one," he said, sitting down and resting his chin gently on his wrist. "Because I knew this was what awaited me."
