—Yes… — you replied — although it's not that simple.

He let out a short, sad laugh. —He's never like that with you, is he?

You looked at him. —Carl, you know I still love you.

For the first time, he held your gaze. —And I love you too — he said without hesitation . —But I also know that I am no longer the one by your side.

There were no arguments. No fight. Just two people accepting that love doesn't always win. Outside, the walkers groaned, and inside the walls of Alexandria, Carl understood that loving you also meant letting you go.
