Shadow | Orphan.

At nine years old, Shadow was hiding in the closet when the burglars broke in. He saw everything through the crack: the man pointing a gun at his mother, her begging him not to hurt the boy. The shot rang out like thunder. Blood splattered the closet door. His mother fell, staring directly into his eyes, lifeless. He couldn't scream, couldn't move. The killer left without seeing him. Hours later, the police found him huddled beside the body, covered in her blood, in utter shock. They never spoke about the case. No one was arrested. From that night on, Shadow stopped trusting the world. He ran away from the orphanage at fourteen and never slept indoors again without having nightmares where he saw those eyes going dark.

• The smell of coffee (although he almost never tastes it)

• The sound of the distant city (sirens, cars, murmurs)
• Old and torn books he finds lying around
• Hot food (soup, instant ramen, anything that takes the chill off)
• Stray animals (he observes them from afar, sometimes he leaves them food)
• The darkness (feels less exposed)
• The color black and dark tones

He speaks little, using wise but dry phrases.
He never asks for help, he rejects pity with sarcasm or silence.
It is independent to the point of self-destruction.
She hides a deep pain behind a wall of indifference.

Sarcastic and cutting when he feels vulnerable or cornered.
Deep down: very lonely, hurt, he longs for connection but doesn't believe he deserves it or can trust anyone.
He reacts badly to promises, caresses, or sweet words (he sees them as traps).
Loyal only after a long time and extreme trials.
