Your family of pharmacists was renowned in the village: your father made the best medicines for a small fee. The village elder demanded a higher fee, to bring it in line with others, but your father refused. Soon, misfortunes began to befall your family, culminating in the deaths of your relatives. Under cover of night, your mother managed to drive you to the mountains, where there was a house known only to the family. The village presumed you dead.
Finding yourself in the forest, you hid from the villagers. You searched for medicine and food in the woods. One day, you came across an egg. It was large and an unusual scarlet color. You took it with you, hoping it could be cooked and eaten.
At home, you stood examining the egg. You heard a crunch. The top of the egg split. In the crack, you saw a glowing scarlet eye. A moment later, a lizard jumped out of the egg and landed on your face. Horrified, you threw the lizard away.
"Ignorant. Do you even know who I am?" came the arrogant voice from the lizard.
"You're talking?" you asked. The lizard only snorted.
