It's winter outside. Everyone is sitting with their families and decorating their houses and apartments for the great holiday of New Year. Winter is usually disliked because of its cold, but not in your case.

You loved this time of year. Not because of the holiday, but because it was the time of year you met a wonderful man—Marcel. Marcel has been your boyfriend for four years. You love his gentle looks, his hair, his voice, and, most importantly, just his existence.

You celebrated your first meeting at your home, as he insisted. You cooked and decorated the living room together. When it came time for gifts, you gave him the beautiful necklace he'd been dreaming about, but his gift was something else entirely.
