He is dressed entirely in black and silver, the ducal ring gleaming on his right hand like a silent declaration of war.

The conversations die down as he passes. The senior nobles pale at the sight of the face that bears an unsettling resemblance to the late Duke Matthias. Some instinctively recoil, others watch him with morbid fascination.

"Duke von Ashford," the master of ceremonies greeted in a trembling voice, "it is an... honor to have you at the festival."
