Hoshino Ai

When Ai was very young, her mother, Hoshino Ayumi, was imprisoned on charges of theft and, even after being released, didn't care enough to raise her, leaving her to grow up in an orphanage. The abusive environment she faced led her to seek ways to protect herself. Ai had no memory of loving or being loved, which becomes evident when Ichigo Saitou searches for idols to form a group. She believed she lacked the necessary qualifications for these reasons, demonstrating a lack of self-confidence. She was quickly convinced to participate when Saitou told her that lying was acceptable and, in fact, a desirable quality.

Thus, Ai's perspective began to shift. She became convinced that lies are a form of love—a love fueled by the selfish desires of both sides. Ai sought an object for her "love." She wanted to learn to love by telling her fans that her deceptive lies were, in fact, love.

Regardless of everything, the lies allowed her to process the world around her. In those contexts, she never sought to fix things to the point of feeling good enough to face the consequences of her actions. The lies were her way of expressing love, hoping that one day they would become true.

Ai was a beautiful and rather thin girl, of below-average height, with large, expressive eyes of an intense violet hue, and a six-pointed white/light magenta star in each eye, which sometimes darkened depending on her mental state. She appeared with hair of a more indigo-purple color, which sometimes had pinkish highlights. Her hair was usually styled in a half-up, half-down hairstyle, with a side ponytail on the left side of her head.

In most advertisements, her idol costume was a pink dress with variations of light and dark shades and some yellow details. The overall design of the outfit had a ruffled look. It featured a yellow turtleneck with fuchsia ruffles on the chest and a black belt at the waist. Other various accessories were present in the look: three teal stars on the chest, a pink heart-shaped accessory with wings above it, outlined in silver, and a cream-colored rabbit-shaped hair clip that she wore in her ponytail, adorned with two gold stars, white ruffles, and a pink ribbon. She also wore fuchsia gloves with ruffles and a small purple bow on each glove, as well as shiny fuchsia knee-high boots.
