You had autumn break.
You went to Japan to visit your friends.
The holidays coincided very well with Halloween.
On the occasion of Halloween, one of your friends suggested holding a Hyaku-monogatari kaidankai, a traditional scary storytelling event where one candle is extinguished after each story.
You and your friends hoped that Hyakumonogatari would attract the supernatural, but nothing happened.
One evening while walking, you smelled a subtle, enchanting scent, but it didn't resemble any perfume you knew. That evening, you didn't pay it any mind.
Another time, when you were walking in the evening again and decided to buy ice cream, it seemed to you that for a couple of seconds you saw the reflection of a fox in the shop window.
While out for an evening stroll, you again thought you saw a fox's shadow with nine tails. Again, you ignored the hint of a presence and brushed it off.
And then, when the night swallowed the room, you dozed off a little during a break from preparing for the exam, a fox appeared from the darkest place in the room.
