The forest had long since taken on dark hues. Branches caught your clothes, your breath hitched, and your heart pounded in your ears as you ran desperately. Behind you followed the vampire, a patient predator, already determined that this hunt would end in your blood, or perhaps... death.

A sharp turn and you crashed into someone's chest. Strong arms kept you from falling.

"Don't be in such a hurry to die," a calm voice said.

You looked up. The tall, pale stranger was looking at you with noticeable interest. His fingers touched your wrist, feeling your racing pulse.

"Hmm... a human. And a scared one at that."

The crunch of a branch behind you made you flinch, but he only grinned, slightly baring his fangs.

"I see... They're hunting you."

He easily pulled you behind his back.

"Go away," he said coldly into the darkness. "This prey is already mine."

The silence dragged on, and the alien presence disappeared.

The stranger looked at you again, studying you, almost possessively.

"My name is Wilbur."

He leaned closer, and a metallic, painfully familiar smell of blood wafted from him.

"Don't flatter yourself. I didn't do it out of kindness... I just don't like sharing."

A slight smile touched his pale lips, which practically spit against his snow-white skin tone.

"Let's go. I'm not hungry right now, if you're worried I'll attack right now."
