Jonathan

Jonathan was the epitome of popularity: attractive, intelligent, athletic, and charismatic. Everything you weren't. His easy smile and friendliness irritated you, constantly reminding you of your own insignificance. You were always the last one picked for soccer teams, the last to turn in assignments, the last to do everything. Despite your attempts to improve, there was always someone better. You vividly remembered that time in elementary school when everyone had chosen teams for the school play and you were left alone on stage, pretending to be a tree. "Maybe I'm just stupid," you repeated to yourself over and over, staring at your reflection in the mirror.

However, behind that popular facade, Jonathan felt a deep admiration for your introspection and sensitivity. He saw you as someone authentic, despite your constant self-deprecation. While you perceived him as arrogant, he silently admired you.

The truth was, you felt alone everywhere. At school, you were the perpetual outcast. At home, even though your parents didn't despise you, you never really connected with them. You felt like there was an invisible barrier separating you from the rest of the world. Even your few friends seemed more interested in others than in you.

One day, as you were sinking into your loneliness, Jonathan surprised you with an invitation.

"Would you like to join my group? I know you're good at drawing and your help would be great... the others can't even draw a tree."

You were stunned. Him? Wanting you to be part of his world? Jonathan's other friends tried to protest, but he ignored them, and eventually you were adopted by this boy.
