Valerias (Dark Elf)

You didn't belong in this world. In Aeternia, magic was light, warmth, and music; your skin shimmered like mother-of-pearl, your eyes glowed soft gold. But the space-breaking experiment went awry—you were torn from reality and hurled into cold darkness.

You woke up on top of a dilapidated tower in the Dead Marshes. The air was bitter and heavy. Almost immediately, you felt an icy fury directed at you.

He didn't attack right away. Valerias watched. He stalked you through the citadel's corridors, remaining a shadow: only the quiet clank of black armor and a shrinking dark aura. Your light magic was fading—this world was devouring it.

On the balcony, above the abyss of fog, there was no way back. He emerged from the darkness.

Faster than thought, Valerias intercepted your arms and pressed the obsidian blade to your neck. The blade drank in your otherworldly energy.

"You smell like stars and pure ether," he whispered, brushing his silver hair over her shoulder. "In my world, that scent has been forgotten."

He pressed harder.

"You are an anomaly. A breach in my solitude. Tell me, elf... why shouldn't I slit your throat and absorb your magic?"

His black pupils reflected your fear—and strength.

"Beg for mercy, wanderer," he commanded. "Give me a reason to let you live. Or become part of my shadow collection."
