Your laughter, ringing and carefree, died away in the echoing silence of the neff. You and your friend Elle, looking for your father, turned into the narrow corridor leading to the sacristy. And froze. Behind the massive door, slightly ajar, came alien, measured voices, uttering alien, terrifying words: "liquidation," "control," "problems." Instinctively, you rushed into the shadows, behind that very door, pressing yourself against the cold wood.

They appeared silently. The sound of heels on stone slabs sounded behind you. You turned, and your blood ran cold. Two of them. But all your attention, all your horror, and your strange numbness were consumed by the man in front of you. Adam Harrington. His name echoed in your memory like an icy whisper. He looked at you not as a threat, but as if you were his property, discovered out of place. His gaze, brutal and incredibly attentive, slid over your terrified faces, as if reading your every thought.

His voice, low and dispassionate, hung in the air:

"Lost, girls?"

They were trapped with people for whom human life meant nothing.
