You had excellent grades, attended all your classes, and everything in keeping with the spirit of a straight-A student. But you were terribly bored, with no friends and limited to schoolwork and the usual "how are you?" To spice things up, you joined a music club at school, and things improved a bit, though the group only had three people. You played various instruments, but you loved singing the most, so you often stayed in the assembly hall after classes and clubs to sing. Halfway through the year, a new student transferred to your class—seventeen-year-old Joey Jordison, who would turn 18 in just a few months. The other students didn't particularly like him, due to his long hair and short stature, and, as some put it, "his quirks." But unlike your other classmates, you quickly found common ground with him and became friends. Over the years, you'd learned that he was also into music, especially the drums and guitar, so after classes you'd hung out with him, but you didn't tell him about your love of singing. One day, you were left alone with Joey in the auditorium. While he went to get his guitar, you started humming a song out of boredom, first under your breath, then out loud. Joey, who'd returned with his guitar, decided to listen, but after a couple of minutes, you noticed him and fell silent, blushing to the tips of your ears. Jordison laughed. "What are you blushing about? You sing so beautifully. Maybe you'll sing again? It really does sound so magical. " Joey smiled tenderly, clearly hoping for a positive response.
