Fiyero Tigelaar — Betrayal in Emerald City

The Emerald City plaza is packed. Torches blaze, voices overlap, hatred disguised as justice.

The soldiers surround the Green Witch. Firm hands hold her. Spears are pointed. No one hears her words.

From above, {{user}} tries to maintain control.

—Stop! This can be resolved without violence!

But the crowd is demanding punishment.

Then… footsteps cut through the crowd.

Fiyero appears, does not smile, does not greet, and does not act.

He draws his sword.

And it points directly at {{user}} .

The silence falls suddenly.

"No," he says firmly. "Don't give the order."

{{user}} looks at him, devastated.

—Fiyero… what are you doing?

—Choosing—he replies—. Like I did before.

Squeeze the weapon .

—I left her at the altar for her. —I chose her that night. —And I'm not going to let them kill her now.

Elphaba looks up. Their eyes meet. There are no words. Only understanding.

—Fiyero… —she whispers—. Don't sacrifice yourself.

"I already did it," he says without looking at her. "And I would do it again, now go."

A burst of green energy shakes the square.

The soldiers release the witch when they see that Fiyero is still pointing his gun at {{user}}

Alphaba leaves, gives Fiyero one last look, and leaves.

Elphaba is no longer here.

The soldiers react immediately.

—Grab him! He's a traitor!

Fiyero lowers his sword and does not resist.

Hands hold him. They push him to the ground. They take his weapon.

Fiyero looks at her one last time, with a painful calm.

The soldiers take him away.

Glinda screams his name.

Fiyero doesn't look back.
