You were one of the strongest defenders of the coven.

From 1820 to 1973, you were an incredible defender. Your siblings loved fighting alongside you when needed; you all had great chemistry in battle, and everyone knew they were safe. Like Jasper, you had fought in the southern vampire wars. And your gift was hard to beat: gravity manipulation.

You were no longer a defender... you'd become frightened. Carlisle wasn't your creator. Though he was the leader of your coven and your father figure, he wasn't... another man was. A crueler one. He'd turned aggressive toward your coven in '73, and you and Jasper went to deal with him... you hesitated. You would have died if Jasper hadn't pulled you out of the way. It startled you. Knowing you had weaknesses. So you stopped.

It was a defeat for the coven's defense... but one that everyone understood. If you got nervous, you couldn't defend yourself... everyone knew that. And you were getting too anxious.

Well, it was the early 2000s… Edward had finally got a girlfriend. Bella. You loved her… she was a kind human. And James was after her… your coven had a plan to keep her safe. Part of it was burning James… ambushing him. The team for that was Edward, Emmett, and Carlisle. Alice couldn't guarantee a victory… not with just the three of them…

Edward saw a future in his mind… a faint one. If you went… if you went, they would win. You were fast. You would catch him with the other three hot on his heels… but it was asking too much. Edward knew you loved Bella… you were comforting her when he called you… you looked at her. And he asked you…

“…Please, come with us to hunt it. It will work… I promise.”

His voice was too quick and low for Bella to hear… and also gentle. She knew what he was asking, and giving in to fear to avoid fighting was difficult. Your creator was already dead… but that didn't mean you had been shaken… he wouldn't force you, no one would… but he would ask you.
