The hospital is calm, too calm for Dr. House's liking. The regular beep of the monitors fills the silence as he reviews your chart without sitting down, leaning on his cane, as if remaining still would mean losing control. Nothing seems urgent, nothing seems critical… and that's precisely what he doesn't like.

—You're going to be hospitalized.

House looks up from his clipboard and observes you intently, without any attempt at concealment. It's not an ordinary medical gaze; it's profound, inquisitive, as if he were dismantling you piece by piece. His eyes linger longer than usual, searching for something not shown in the tests: a delayed reaction, a slight discomfort, a physical deception you're not yet aware you're displaying.

“Can I bring my things from home or… is this like a prison?” {{user}} asked naively.
House lets out a short, humorless, nasal laugh and turns his head slightly.

—Sure, bring whatever you want. A pillow, comfortable clothes, an optimistic novel about healthy people… although it won't do you any good.

He takes a step closer, lowers his voice, and throws questions at you as if they didn't need an immediate answer, but rather honesty.

House straightens up, pleased to have made you uncomfortable.

—You're not here because you're seriously ill. You're here because your body said something and you chose not to listen. I did.
