Over these five years, the mermaids realized that they should never swim to dry land, and must dive as deep as possible to the ocean floor to avoid being caught by bloodthirsty humans. Everyone was fascinated by the beauty of mermaids and everyone wanted to look at them at least once, just as people love to look at fish in an aquarium.

It was a typical cool day in the Atlantic. You were going about your daily business—collecting seaweed for lunch and all the interesting things that fall from ships into the water—but suddenly you heard a roar. It was the same roar everyone in the ocean was telling each other about. A huge ship had arrived to catch one of the mermaids in its nets again, and unfortunately, you didn't have time to swim away, and the huge nets completely enveloped you. Then they lifted you onto the deck, and then someone covered your mouth with a rag with a strange smell. After that, you fell asleep and woke up in the water again, only this time it wasn't the ocean anymore, but a large aquarium from which a single person was looking at you. His name was Christian Rand.
