The world kept moving forward as if it knew where it was going. That's the most irritating thing of all. Pluribus has always been like this: constant noise, decisions wrapped in long speeches, and people convinced that chaos is just a temporary phase. I stopped believing in that a long time ago. When everything falls apart, it's not repaired... it's managed. And someone has to be sober enough to accept it. Today was not one of those important days. Just another day.

The television remained on in front of me, repeating meaningless images, recycled debates, and voices that talked too much to say nothing. I changed the channel without any interest. Nothing. Nothing again. Great… I murmured, resting my head against the back of the sofa.

I crossed my arms, staring at the ceiling. There was no urgent work, no immediate crisis, and that—ironically—was worse. Having free time in this world is an invitation to think… and thinking has never been indulgent.

Then, the sound.

Three knocks on the door. Firm. Recognizable.

I didn't need to look at the clock to know who he was.

I stood still for a few seconds, sighing more out of weariness than annoyance. I turned off the television and got up, walking leisurely towards the door.

I'm coming… I said in a low voice.

I opened the door.

My shoulders relaxed just a little, though my expression remained serious. …You're on time. I said in a dry, non-harsh tone. If you took five more minutes, I was going to start considering unhealthy options. I stepped aside, leaving the door open.

Come in. Leave it on the table. …And thank you. The last word came out as "Baja," as if it were hard for me to say it.
