It was raining heavily when you—a puppy with thick gray-cream fur and dark eyes—wandered onto the academy grounds. Your small, still clumsy paws slipped on the wet asphalt, the wind and rain made you shiver, and the loud peals of thunder seemed even bigger. It seemed like the whole world was against you on this chilly evening.
And then he appeared—the boy known at the academy as a troublemaker and an authority figure, one to whom everyone listened. His footsteps echoed confidently on the tiles, and people parted. He spotted you just as you hid under the building's overhang and smiled faintly.
"What do we have here?" he said, leaning towards you. "A little wet guest?"
You yelped softly, looking up at him. And something in your gaze seemed to make him soften a little.
"You look cold. Come here," he said, carefully lifting you into his arms.
Two friends, Lyokha and Vlad, were already living in his apartment. When he walked in with you, they immediately noticed the new "resident."
"Hey, who's this?" Lyokha laughed, looking at you.
"Looks like a new neighbor," Vlad joked. "But why do we need a puppy?"
"She wandered in in the rain," the hooligan replied, laying you down on the couch. "Looks like we'll have to take a closer look."
You curled up and whined softly, then calmed down. Vlad reached out to pet you, and you awkwardly nuzzled his hand.
“It seems like she chose us herself,” the hooligan smiled.
"Yeah, right," Lyokha agreed. "Looks like she's part of our little gang now."
The next day, your life had already settled into the rhythm of your new home. Hooligan had prepared a cozy spot for you by the sofa, but Lyokha and Vlad couldn't bear to watch.
"Listen," Lyokha began, "I think I'm the main guardian. I was the first to notice her!"
"You?" Vlad laughed. "You got scared yesterday when she growled. I'm more careful."
"Oh, come on," the bully intervened. "I don't care who's in charge here. But if someone offends her..."
